Industrial Gas Turbine Compressor Design
Starting with the initial compressor flowpath definition from the customer, our engineers completed a 14-stage compressor design for an industrial gas turbine in less than 12 months. Our structural analysts worked closely with the customer’s aerodynamicists to tune the frequencies of all of the airfoils. In conjunction with the airfoil tuning, a team of mechanical designers and analysts completed the design and analysis to satisfy strength and durability requirements of the rotor system, cases, bearing compartments and inlet system.
Finite element analysis of critical hardware verified structural integrity and were used in setting tip clearances. Production manufacturing drawings for the entire compressor were produced. This dedicated, focused team was able to demonstrate a 25 percent reduction in the customer’s typical design lead time while producing a quality product.
