Aero Engine HPT Aerodynamic Verification Rig
Starting with the HPT blade and vane definition from the customer, our engineers completed the design and procurement of a 2-stage high pressure turbine aero verification rig for a business/regional aviation gas turbine in less than 8 months after receipt of airfoil definition. A team of mechanical designers, modelers/drafters, and analysts completed the design and analysis of the rotor system, cases, seals, bearing compartments, and inlet/exit ducts. Our design team also worked closely with the customers facilities engineers to custom design a rig test stand.
Finite element analysis of critical hardware, including the rotor system and static structure, were used for stress and modal analysis. A rotor dynamics analysis was performed to verify the structural integrity of the rotor system. Manufacturing drawings for the entire turbine rig were produced, and all rig hardware was procured and shipped to the customer ready for assembly. This dedicated, focused team was able to deliver an HPT aero rig which not only met the customers demanding schedule, but exceeded all customer quality requirements.
